What type of services do you provide?

Sunway Home Healthcare (SHH) provides home healthcare for patients after hospital discharge. These patients receive clinical attention by a nurse, a physiotherapist or a dietitian, or the team as a whole.

Care services that are often engaged by our patients include wound care at home, IV infusion of medication or hydration at home, routine Geriatric medical and treatment care. Patients who go home after surgery may need physiotherapy at home. Our dedicated home care physiotherapist will attend to them at home for a smoother recovery. Our clinicians work very closely with the hospital team to provide uninterrupted clinical care for patients even during public holidays and weekends.

For patient’s convenience, we also provide medical supplies and home and rehabilitation equipment to complement the service.

Are the costs covered by my insurance?

The home healthcare cost is covered by some healthcare or private insurance. The coverage depends on individual healthcare plan the patient is entitled for. We suggest the patient/family to bring this up to their own company or insurance providers. SHH will work with the third party payer regarding the payment processes.

What is your after hours process?

We provide uninterrupted clinical care by thoroughly planning the case management with family/patient in advance for after hour, weekend or public holiday.

How quickly can you respond to an inquiry?

Our typical response time to a new inquiry is within 1 hour or sometimes, even shorter. Our mobile on-call staff may be attending to another patient or is driving, so we will respond to general inquiries as soon as possible.

In case of an emergency, or an urgent inquiry is not within our active on-call hours, we suggest for you to call telecommand center. The last thing we want is to delay patient’s treatment in case of an emergency.

Am I locked into a contract?

Our payment terms are formed with patient/family after discussions. A written proposal will be provided before patient agrees to the care. We often suggest bite size treatment plan for a start.

How do you train your staff?

Our dedicated home care team must have the relevant credential to join our taskforce. Abiding to laws and self-regulation, our management ensures continuous professional development and training for all levels of staff.

What are the costs?

We offer many form of discounts for our patients. Before any discount, our hourly rate for qualified nurse is RM30 at the maximum for private nursing care. For physiotherapy sessions, it is RM165 per treatment. The charge rate usually becomes even more affordable as you use our service for a longer period of time.

We appreciate our long-term patients and their families. We offer more discount for patients who have used our services for more than a month, (or home visits for more than 20 times in 6 months). Talk to your assigned case PIC for your customised plan.

How often will the carer change?

Private Nursing: To ensure smooth operation, we will assign the same small group of staff (3-4ppl) to take care of a patient. Our staff work as a team and take turns to be away for rest and training. We will ensure patient/family preferences are communicated. If you have any specific emphasis, let our case PIC know.

Home Visit by a nurse/therapist: We will deploy the staff with the correct skill for your loved one’s clinical needs. All our staff nurses are trained and privileged before going off to patient home individually.

Are the home care services only available at home?

We attend to patients at their place of residence which can be a home, a nursing home or even a hospital. Being in a familiar place is important for patients, especially for the elderlies. If required, SHH can refer a place for care for rehabilitation on a short-term basis.
